Hakodate's lingering legacy | Bangkok Post: news


In my opinion, the night view of the northern city when seen from Doi Suthep is no less beautiful. And from my pre-trip research, I also learned that Hakodate played an interesting role in Japan's modern history. As a result, Japan was thrown into a civil war known as the Boshin War that last from 1868-69. Throughout the Meiji period, to the beginning of World War II, Hakodate prospered as an international port. Each of these inclining roads offers a different view of the bay and the lower part of the city.
